Boeing Buildings 107 and 105
Bible Study
About the study: Our Bible Study has been meeting weekly since the fall of 1997. In June of 2000, much of the group moved from Building 270 to Building 107 and our study became two studies. Since that time, other studies have begun in other buildings as a result. In Building 107, we meet in Conference Room 270 at 11:15 on Wednesdays. . The study in 105 meets in Conference Room 324 at 11:30 on Thursdays. If you are a Boeing employee or have access to either of these buildings, feel free to come. If you'd like more information about the studies, contact Jeff Mueller (bldg. 101 Mezz, jeffrey.a.mueller@boeing.com, (314) 232-8606) or Dennis Mann (bldg. 105, level 3, dennis.w.mann@boeing.com, (314) 234-0339)
About our group: This group began with only three or four men meeting together at lunch to study the Bible and share experiences as Christian brothers. (Common experiences at Promise Keeper events prompted the beginning). Although we have grown considerably, we have lost several people (to other companies or endeavours) that have been very instrumental in our growth. (But God has a way of backfilling with more people). We are now a group consisting of men and women, different races and backgrounds. We go to different churches - several denominations are represented. We are not Baptist, Catholic, Presbyterian, Methodist, Lutheran, etc - we are Christians. We find commonality in the saving faith of Jesus Christ. In our studies, we seek commonality from God's word.
In the time since we have begun our Bible Study, we have studied through the books of 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, Daniel, Mark, Luke, John, Ephesians James.
============
For those of us that have been involved in these studies over the past several years, we have seen God work in many miraculous ways. Many people have come to an understanding that the Bible is truly applicable to their day to day lives. We have become somewhat like a family, in that we lift up prayers and concerns of others in the group, as well as others in our workforce. There is a level of accountability that helps us to live in the way God would have us to live.
We have also seen that being a Christian is not just about attending a church or a study like this. It's not about being Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist, etc. Becoming a Christian is asking Jesus into your heart. You may not be a member of a church presently, and you may not even be seeking God right now, but God is seeking you. Or you may have been a member of a church for a long time, but only going through the motions. Below is a prayer that you can say that can help bring you into a saving faith. These are not merely words or some magical spell. Think about these words, and if you say them, believing in your heart that they are true, and are willing to follow them up in your life, you can become a Christian right now.

Malachi 3:3 says:
"He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver."
This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God. One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study. That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver. As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities. The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot then she thought again about the verse that says: "He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver."
She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined. The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.
The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, "How do you know when the silver is fully refined?" He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's easy - when I see my image in it."
If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has His eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image in you.
We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are. After that, we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with.
We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, we are able to go on a nice vacation, or when we retire.
The truth is, there's no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when? Your life will always be filled with challenges. It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway. Happiness is the way.
So, treasure every moment that you have and treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time with...and remember that time waits for no one.
So, stop waiting....
--until your car or home is paid off
--until you get a new car or home
--until your kids leave the house
--until you go back to school
--until you finish school
--until you lose 10 lbs.
--until you gain 10 lbs.
--until you get married
--until you get a divorce
--until you have kids
--until you retire
--until summer
--until spring
--until winter
--until fall
--until you die
There is no better time than right now to be happy. Happiness is a journey, not a destination. So, work like you don't need money, Love like you've never been hurt, And dance like no one's watching.
